The following are guidelines for immediate action for front line staff.

If drugs are found in the hotel premises, immediately secure the area and call the Police on 101.

If needles or syringes are found do not attempt to move them. Staff safety is very important and these can be potentially dangerous. Contact the police immediately.

What to do if you are concerned that somebody is under the influence of illegal drugs?

  • If the person has lost consciousness call 999 and ask for an ambulance and call your first aider

  • If you think it is safe to do so, keep any packaging or residue of the substance and give it to the ambulance service

  • In any other case call the police on 101

If a guest or member of staff is carrying drugs

  • If it is safe you can take drugs away from the person, however never put yourself in danger

  • Call the police and explain what has happened
